Robbert Dijkgraaf (1960) is Director and Leon Levy Professor of the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), Princeton, and Distinguished University Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Amsterdam. From May 2008 to August 2012, he was president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on string theory, quantum gravity, and the interface between mathematics and particle physics. Dijkgraaf received the Physica Prize of the Dutch Physical Society in 2001 and the NWO Spinoza Prize in 2003.
